ReplyDeleteI took up sketching this year as a serious pursuit. And I really do enjoy it. I agree with what you have said, especially, "even a long held pose begins to morph as the model's body shifts and settles with unconscious subtlety. LIFE is not stagnant - does the artist erase, redraw, or incorporate the changes?" Very thought provoking.

With croquis, for me there is no time for the effort of erasing, only being in the moment of the drawing impliment, the paper and the model, nothing else exists. Drawing in the changes as the model moves slightly happens, or maybe not but the present moment is experienced and this intensity feels like the essence of life. Stagnent never and even the drawing will change and maybe fade with time.
